Odour control agents

Sulphide formation often creates a rotten egg smell.

The process starts when water lacks oxygen. High pollutant loads and elevated biochemical oxygen demand (BOD) or chemical oxygen demand (COD), for example, rapidly deplete oxygen and lead to sulphate reduction. Decomposition of organisms in the water produces odours.

The appropriate solution depends on the situation. For occasional problems, temporary control of the effects may be simplest. Persistent problems require lasting measures such as improving the substrate and continuously supplying oxygen.

For rapid, short-term relief, odour control products can be used. EFAZYM absorbs and neutralises odours while activating, stabilising and regenerating the biological substrate. It must be dosed continuously into the water stream.
