Alongside wastewater treatment, Chemtrade International B.V. specialises in conditioning system water in cooling, heating and process water systems.
Ordinary tap water contains salts and metals that can deposit on or react with pipes and equipment. This can cause corrosion, blockages or increased salinity. Chemical conditioning prevents these effects, for example by keeping salts dissolved so they cannot precipitate.
In evaporation systems, minimising salt and calcium deposits maintains optimum heat transfer and prevents energy loss, saving energy and cleaning costs.
Geothermal energy
Geothermal energy is a growing source of heat and power. Deep wells bring hot water to the surface, where a heat exchanger transfers the heat for energy production or direct heating. Many horticultural greenhouses already use this method. Water is then pumped back underground rather than lost.
With our partner AVF Water, we have introduced a formulated product combining scale and corrosion inhibition for this application.
Geosoft is a multifunctional geothermal well product that inhibits corrosion and hardness deposits. Scale and corrosion cause blockages and deposits that reduce plant output and create costly cleaning requirements. Deposits often comprise various calcium, sulphide and silica compounds.
Geosoft uses polymer compounds to alter deposit crystal geometry and break down deposits. It helps prevent fouling and forms a protective film between metal surfaces and corrosive media.
Its dispersing properties also allow use in highly saline water with very high Langelier Saturation Index (LSI) values.
