Electroplating and surface treatment
Wastewater in electroplating arises from surface treatment processes such as galvanising, pickling, cleaning, etching and degreasing metals.
Processes
Products are treated in a sequence of baths in which heavy metals accumulate. The baths are regularly renewed to maintain performance. Before the wastewater can be discharged, it must be cleaned and harmful substances removed.
Chemicals
Treatment depends on contaminant concentrations. A powdered product combining separation, absorption and flocculation can keep the process straightforward.
High concentrations of complexed heavy metals are a common challenge in electroplating wastewater. We generally pretreat this water with a heavy metal complex breaker.
Treatment systems
Depending on wastewater volume, options range from simple manual units to large automated systems with various sludge dewatering methods.
